Head coach Robert Saleh walked into Nashville with holes on both sides of the ball and a young quarterback who needed targets he could trust. General manager Mike Borgonzi helped him fix the most glaring one first.

The Titans selected Ohio State standout Carnell Tate with the fourth overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. At 6-foot-2, Tate brings downfield juice, elite ball tracking and the body control to win contested catches. He immediately becomes the boundary threat Ward has lacked.

They paired him with Wan’Dale Robinson, signed from the Giants to a four-year deal worth up to $70 million. Robinson is a slot specialist who posted 92 catches and over 1,000 yards last season while showing he can attack all three levels. He gives Ward a reliable chain-mover who wins after the catch.

Solak highlighted both additions in his ranking. He noted how the previous room forced Ward into tough spots and how the new duo creates mismatches at every depth.

Ridley’s Restructure Keeps Experience in the Building

The move that raised the ceiling most might have been the quietest.

Calvin Ridley restructured his contract to stay in Tennessee. The three-time 1,000-yard receiver battled through a season-ending injury that limited him to just seven games in 2025. He returns as a veteran WR2 or WR3 who can still win routes and mentor the young talent around him.

Keeping Ridley wasn’t about nostalgia. It was about raising the floor and the ceiling at the same time.

Depth That Separates Contenders From the Rest

Ayomanor and Dike now slide comfortably into WR4 and WR5 roles. Both already logged significant snaps as rookies. That kind of proven depth matters when the schedule stretches to 17 games and injuries inevitably hit.

Walk around the Titans’ facility during OTAs and the difference was obvious. Ward looked more comfortable. The receivers ran routes with purpose. The chemistry built in real time.

Ward went from a zero-star high school recruit to the No. 1 overall pick in 2025. Now, in year two, he finally has the weapons to match his arm talent. The frustration of 2025 — when he often had to create something out of nothing — should ease.

Ridley’s journey adds another layer. A player who once put up 1,000-yard seasons is back with something to prove and a group hungry to follow his lead.

The Next Step Happens on the Field

National recognition feels good. It validates the front office’s aggressive approach. But the real test comes when the lights come on in September.

If this revamped wide receiver group performs anywhere close to expectations, the Titans could take a legitimate step forward in 2026. The AFC South remains competitive, yet Tennessee now has the pieces to push back.
